How Ukraine won the social media war

 

Ukraine vs Russia, a conflict which has been the talking social media, g point of social media for a quiet few months now. And now it is clear who won the war, none other than the underdog himself, Ukraine. But how did Ukraine manage to win despite the fact that  loose internet connectivity and Russian IT cell/hackers. It is clear that Ukraine’s strategy for winning this war was to gain more eyes on social media and thus making other nations to send their supply of ammunition.  Daily video addresses by Zelensky have become viral sensations, while slick graphics by the foreign and defense ministries celebrate Ukraine's military resistance.

Ukrainians have also posted videos of captured Russian military hardware being towed away on their tractors, as well as a Ukrainian missile shooting down a Russian helicopter.



According to Baptiste Robert, founder of Predict Lab, a French company which fights disinformation, “The Ukrainians are clearly ahead in terms of information in the first phase of the conflict”. “The most impressive thing is that it is organic”, he said. “There is a real desire of the Ukrainians to document this war. When something happens, they pull out their phones”.

 One thing which people are appreciating constantly is the courage of Ukrainian President Zelensky because after all this destruction and constant suppression hasn't caused any damage to his will power, and he clearly isn't afraid of Russian invasion. Even after the offer of pulling him and his family out of Ukraine by America, he decided to stay and took the gun in his own hand.

 

Through this conduit, internal resolve to resist is preserved and external support for assistance is built. Additionally, it contributes continuously to the documentary record that will ultimately shape historical narratives and—as is increasingly likely—support war crimes prosecutions.
