About1.5 lakh pilules of ZyCoV-D vaccine from Zydus Cadila have cleared the quality testing at the Central Medicines Laboratory in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. Still, it's being told that the central government is presently in addresses with the manufacturers to reduce the fixed price. Actually, the pharmaceutical company has offered to give three pilules of ZyCov-D, each dose for Rs 300.
Sources said the
manufacturers have fixed a price of Rs-per cure, which the government feels is
too high for a three-cure vaccine. In such a situation, the government is
negotiating to reduce the prices and the final decision on this is likely to be
taken this week. Sources said that the price of ZyCov-D should be different from Covaxin and Covishield, as needle-free spurt
injectors will be used for its installation. The price of this injector is 30
thousand rupees.
ZyCov-D vaccine
may be launched coming week.
Sources said that, according to the government,
an agreement will be reached on the price of the vaccine in the coming week,
after which the poke can be launched commercially. Meanwhile, manufacturers are
training health workers to use special applicators for vaccination. This will
be the first vaccine in India to be given to children in the age group of 12-18
times.
