Overcome evil of selfishness, greed, SXCMT students told

PATNA: Youth for Free India (YFI), an active social work movement of the students of St. Xavier's College of Management and Technology (SXCMT), Patna, welcomed first year students to is fold with an induction ceremony here.

Addressing the new members, Swami Sachidananda Bharathi, who was behind the idea of setting up YFI, said it was started as a dream to see a hunger-free, caste-free and corruption-free India. “I am happy that YFI has been seriously working towards this mission,” he said, adding that its volunteers were doing a wonderful work serving the needy people across Patna.
Swami Sachidananda Bharathi is a former Indian Air Force officer-turned seeker of truth and promoter of peace. Because of his Air Force background, he is also known as ‘Air Force Baba’. An encounter with death in an air accident in 1982 was the ‘turning point’ in his life. He was initiated into spiritual life in 1984.

Asking the students to overcome the “evil of selfishness, greed and pride”, Swami Sachidananda Bharati said they should follow the principle of tyagarchana or conscious and willing self-sacrifice, instead.
He said fruitful people always gave something to the society and shared with the students five principles of enlightened leadership for a fruitful life. “These five principles are love and sharing, caring and giving, focus and progress, trust and entrust, grow and help grow, risk and rise and report and response.
Earlier, YFI mentor, Mr Piyush Ranjan Sahay, welcomed the freshers and introduced them to Swami Sachidananda Bharathi.
Speaking on the occasion, acting Rector, Fr Martin Poras SJ, congratulated the YFI for “reaching out to the most needy people during the Covid-19 pandemic”. SXCMT Principal, Fr T Nishaant SJ, said the YFI had been providing food to the poor people in many areas on a regular basis. It should now make serious efforts towards making the society caste-free, corruption-free and communalism-free.
Sanghamitra Raje Singh anchored the event while Sam Matthews proposed the vote of thanks.
