In a Press conference today, Minister Anurag Thakur announced that the cabinet has decided to increase the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojna till March 2022.

He says, under NFS (National Food Security Act) this will be provided to
all the ration card holders in India. He adds that till now 80 crore people
have taken the benefit of this yojna and the government has decided to extend
its date. The total expenditure till march 2022 has been calculated as 2,60,000
crore. 600 Lac metric tonnes was the limit allotted for PMGKAY but till now
only 541 Lac metric tonnes has been administered.
