Today on 23rd November 2021, the social awareness committee of St. Xavier's College of Management and technology, organised a function to commemorate the Constitution Day. Advocate Alka Verma marked her presence at the event. She says, "the Indian Constitution was a charter of values and principles that protected the rights of every citizen and offered equal opportunities".
Constitution day is celebrated on 26th November every year. On this day the constitution of our country was adopted by the Constitution Assembly of India. It was adopted on 26th November 1949 and it came into effect on 26th January 1950.

Advocate Alka Verma who was the chief guest for the event said, "we should celebrate our constitution every day. It is like the Bible of a nation". She talked about reservation and various myths on reservation to weaker sections. "Reservation is not discrimination its more about insuring equality. We need to create a situation where disadvantaged people also have a level-playing field with others", she added.
Later, a speech competition was organised in which 6 students participated and shared their thoughts on "Relevance of Constitution in Indian democracy". They had a limited time of 3 minutes to sum up their speech. The six candidates were Swati Mishra, Priya, Harshita Pratap Singh, Preeti, Avinash Kumar and Ritika Singh. As a result, Swati Mishra, a first year student of the department of Mass Communication, got the first place and Ritika Singh of the department of Commerce of 2nd year, marked the runner up place.
The acting Rector and the Vice Principal of the college gave the awards to the winners. And Fr. A Sebastian SJ, Fr. Raj Kumar SJ and Fr. Sherry George SJ sat on the panel to judge the speech.

To end the competition a second year student of department of Mass Communication, Vikash Kumar Singh recited a poem, "Main Bharat ka Sanvidhan hun, Lal kile se bol raha hun". The program was hosted by Riddhi Arya and Shalu proposed the vote of thanks.
