Dasu Dam Case: China demands 38 Million USD for their dead engineers.

China has reportedly demanded a compensation of 38 Million USD (around 660 Crore) from Pakistan for their dead workers, who were working on Dasu Hydropower project.


On July 14, 2021 In a Bomb blast using the bus, 13 people died including 9 Chinese engineers, 2 locals, and 2 personnel of the frontier constabulary (FC) and more than 30 people got injured in the accident.

This incident happened when a bus carrying the team who were working on the project got hit by a car full of explosives.

Initially Pakistan denied about the blast, they said that it was an accident not any blast but after a lot of pressure given from China, Pakistan agreed to accept that it was a blast.

But, after accepting they denied that it was their fault, instead they say that it was the Indian Spy Agency RAW, who did this, but China did not accept that.

And now China is demanding a compensation of 38 million USD (around 660 crore Pakistani rupees).

What was the project?

Pakistan is constructing a hydropower project named Dasu Hydropower Project. They took loan of 700 Million USD from World Bank for 30 years on March 2020. They brought engineers from China. This project will facilitate the expansion of electricity supply of hydropower in Pakistan. The Additional Financing will support the construction of a transmission line to evacuate power from the Dasu hydropower plant to Islamabad.
