Government helicopter crashes at Chhattisgarh's Raipur airport, two pilots killed

A major accident has happened at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. A government helicopter crashed on the runway of the airport around 9 pm on Thursday. According to the information received by India Today / Aaj Tak, both the pilots in the helicopter have died in the accident. Their names have been given as Captain Gopal Krishna Panda and Captain AP Srivastava.

There was chaos at the airport after the crash. The cause of the accident was not clear till the time of writing this news. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief by tweeting on this accident.

Accident during testing

According to the report of Ravish Pal Singh associated with Aaj Tak, the state helicopter was completely destroyed in the crash. It has been told that the accident happened during testing. When both the pilots were practicing to land the helicopter, then it caught fire and crashed landing. Till now no detailed statement has been issued by the police regarding this. At the same time, the DGCA and the state government have ordered an inquiry into the accident.

In the pictures that have come out from the spot, it can be clearly seen that the helicopter has been completely destroyed. A part of his wing fell away. According to the news, the landing was so dangerous that one pilot died on the spot. An attempt was made to take the other to the hospital immediately, but he too could not be saved. In an attempt to save their lives, both were taken to Ramakrishna Hospital. But the hospital has also confirmed that both the pilots have died in the accident.
