Maldives government contradicts the 'India out' slogan and condemns attempts to to spread false information about India.

On Wednesday, 17th November 2021, the Maldives government stepped forward and denied the increasing false information across social media platforms using the slogan 'India out'. 



The Maldives government believes that the information spread on social media is unverified and those are the opinions of a small number of people rather than the sentiments of the general public. The government said the false allegation is the opinion of a small group of people who want to ruin the long maintained friendly relationship with India.

The statement given by the Maldives government continues, "the strong bilateral relationship between Maldives and India is based on shared historical and cultural ties. India has always been the Maldives closest ally and trusted neighbour extending constant support to the people on  all fronts". 



The statement of the government also stated different areas on which India supports and provides benefits to the people. The areas such as search and rescue capabilities, casualty evacuation, coastal surveillance and maritime reconnaissance. The government also appreciated the assistance provided by India on different instances like the 2004 Asian Tsunami, 2015 Male' water crisis and the ongoing pandemic. The statement says, "India will always remain a true and trusted friend of the people of Maldives".

This statement also further stated that it is not possible for a country to faced threats like trans-border terrorism, piracy and narco-trafficking and non-traditional challenges such as cyber security etc., all alone without the support of international partners.

The government urged everyone not to spread false information which ruins the relationship with neighbours.
